Wikipedia is indisputedly the No. 1 online general encyclopedia today. With all key facts meticulously referenced, its articles are becoming as authoritative as any. However, in its endeavour to become more and more comprehensive, its articles have inevitably become longer and longer.
2. Dummipedia is a Wikipedia companion, a Wikipedia fork, if you like. It is a general reference specially created for those of us who have difficulties reading more than 500 words online. No less inspired by John Wiley's Dummies series, this free simplified online encyclopedia was started recently as a separate effort NOT under the Wikimedia Foundation. The website is sponsored wholly by advertisements so as not to burden the public through requests for donations. It presently has 2,010 summaries (see list), 101 chronologies, and 216 video pages.
